Overview
The EARLY study investigates early indicators of mental health challenges in children and adolescents across Switzerland. Led by the child and adolescent psychiatry research team at Universitäre Psychiatrische Dienste (UPD) Bern, the programme collaborates with partnered clinics in Basel and Bern to follow young people across multiple care pathways while maintaining a consistent evidence-based assessment battery.
Participating Centres
Focus
Longitudinal assessment of emotional regulation, early warning signs, and protective factors that can inform timely interventions for young people.
How MHIRA Supports EARLY
Unified workflows
Shared form libraries keep assessments harmonised across partner clinics and research assistants.
Swiss hosting
MHIRA runs on Swiss-based infrastructure, meeting the study's data residency requirements and consent workflows.
Instant reporting
Automated dashboards provide immediate feedback for coordinating interventions and study monitoring.
Multi-site management
Role-based access ensures researchers at each site can work within shared protocols while keeping sensitive data compartmentalised.
Implementation Notes
MHIRA centralises intake, follow-up scheduling, and longitudinal data visualisation for all participating centres. Study teams can launch consented assessment packs on tablets or laptops, capture clinician notes, and compare blinded results. Custom exports support statistical analysis while preserving de-identified datasets for wider research collaboration.
